Keeping it in the Family - Charles Day Steels

Taking over from his father at the age of 29, Jon Day broadened the company’s capabilities through the addition of laser cutting and waterjet cutting, echoing the company’s belief and focus on innovation.   This was then furthered with the acquisition of The Laser Cutting Company Ltd in 2012, adding tube laser cutting to the portfolio.

To date the group now boast an impressive capacity of 8 flatbed CO2 and fiber lasers whilst the waterjet and flame cutting departments each operate 3 machines.  Focusing on the tube and open section cutting markets, The Laser Cutting Company has 3 tube lasers which include a Mazak 6 axis Fabrigear, capable of cutting up to 406mm open section.

Aiming to build on this proven track record of innovation and customer service, is the next generation.  James and Charlie Day (29,28) join the business with ambitious growth plans for the group following successful solo careers in related industries.  The brothers will be bringing an energetic approach to drive growth within existing markets whilst broadening the company’s scope into new ones.  Charlie will be focusing on business development with James taking the reins on operations.  Having grown up with the family business both have always been involved in the industry and will be hitting the ground running.
