CE Ready (BS EN 1090-1) Cutting

For Structural Metalwork

After extensive auditing we have been awarded a BS/EN 1090-1 Factory Production Control (FPC) certificate allowing us to laser / plasma / flame cut parts compliant for use within CE Marked construction projects.

Since 1st July 2014, the CE Marking of fabricated structural steel and related metal work destined for use within the construction industry became mandatory and a new EU harmonised standard was bought into effect (BS EN 1090-1/A1:2001).

With many of our customers working within the construction industry, we understood the requirement for us to be able to provide CE ready profiles that conform to the BS EN 1090-1 standard. To this end, Charles Day underwent extensive auditing and implemented a new Factory Production Control system in order to comply with the new rules set out by the Construction Products Regulation (CPR).

Our conformity to the CPR now allows us to provide thermal cutting / profiling of steel and aluminium components for steel structures in execution class EXC 1 up to EXC 4.

If you require flame, plasma or laser cut parts for a project that requires BS EN 1090-1 compliance, you must specify this to our Sales Team during the enquiry stage. We can then source approved materials from CE marked steel mills and implement the required procedures and ensure our profiles meet all required legislation.

By requesting a need for CE Marking we can provide you with profiled parts which have been produced in a way that guarantees they conform to BS EN 1090-1.

1. Customer Enquiry

A customer contacts us with a requirement for a cut profile which is to go on and be used within the construction industry.

2. Customer Request

At enquiry stage the customer specifies to us that the part requires CE Marking.

3. Cutting Procedures

Using CE Marked sheet/plate, profile is processed following strict guidelines set out within our Factory Production Control system.

4. Collection/Delivery

Upon completion, the finished profiles are BS EN 1090-1 compliant suitable for use in EXC 1 – EXC 4 classes. The profiles are then ready for delivery or collection.
