Sales Estimator

Job title: Sales Estimator
Department: Sales Office
Reporting to: Sales Manager
Hours of work: Monday – Friday 8.30am – 5pm (Inclusive of 30 minutes for lunch)

Established over 35 years ago, Charles Day (Steels) Ltd has grown to become one of the UK's largest and most diverse profiling and cutting firms. This continual growth means they are now looking for a Sales Estimator to join their ambitious team. The role involves dealing with customers looking for flame / plasma / laser and waterjet cutting services as well as some additional sub-contract operations.

This is the perfect opportunity for an enthusiastic Internal Sales Executive who thrives in vibrant and busy office environments.

Responsibilities

The main role is to assist the existing sales team with the day to day running of the company. This includes:

  • Answer incoming sales calls
  • Monitor and respond to customer emails
  • Build quotes and progress orders dependant on customer requirements
  • Maintain a high level of service throughout all customer contact
  • Maintain and grow current customer relationships

The Candidate

We are looking to employ a candidate who possess a pleasant telephone manner, is confident and is able to converse politely with both customers and colleagues and be able to deal promptly with customer enquiries.

The ideal candidate will have good Maths and English skills, be computer literate with experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word & Outlook etc). We are looking for someone who has a good attention to detail.

As this is an office based role, we are looking for someone who is able to work well in a team, liaising with different departments such as the shop-floor, marketing and accounts.

Reliability and flexibility are essential needs as is being able to work from their own initiative when dealing with customer questions.

It would be helpful to have CAD experience and be able to read technical drawings. A reasonable knowledge of metal specifications would also be useful together with any knowledge of our cutting methods a bonus.

Ultimately, a willingness to learn new skills is required as full training will be given to suitable candidates.

Sheffield – near Meadowhall and M1

Draftsman / Sales Estimator

Job title: Draftsman & Sales Estimator
Department: Drawing Office / Sales Office
Reporting to: Production Manager / Sales Manager
Hours of work: Monday – Friday 8.30am – 5pm (Inclusive of 30 minutes for lunch).

As one of Sheffield’s leading sub-contract manufacturing firms, the team at Charles Day are looking to expand and therefore require enthusiastic draftsman to assist with the drawing up of customer requirements.

Working with DXF and DWG drawings on programs such as DraftSight, AutoCAD and Solidworks, the candidate will be tasked with creating machine readable files from customer specifications that can be programmed into our many CNC driven cutting machines.

Responsibilities

The role is split between drawing and providing assistance to the sales team where required.

  • Understanding and interpreting technical drawings
  • Converting customer requirements to CAD files
  • Resolving drawing problems with customers
  • Liaising with sales and workshop floor to ensure smooth production processes
  • Build quotes and progress orders dependant on customer requirements
  • Building working relationships with customers
